Location: North Dakota | I know how to wrap them in theory. I've been shown and watched videos over and over and over. But for some reason, I just can't get it right. Everything falls apart after I cup the fetlock and start to head back up the leg. I always started to get gapping on the back of the leg on the last 3 or 4 wraps and the velcro never ends up on the outside. If anyone has some suggestions or some sort of visual guide that would be neat. Thanks! |

| When you roll them up, you must start with the Velcro end, and Velcro must be on the inside of the roll. When you wrap, you go from inner leg around the front of the leg. |

And that is what I do. I wrap down the leg in even increments, cup under the fetlock to get the little v at the front, then wrapping back up it starts to gap at hte top and the like the velcro is supposed to be on the outside of the leg, it sometimes ends up there but sometimes on the inside, I can never get it to come out the same. |

Maybe you need to adjust your angle as you go back up the leg. Or you may be very, very slightly pulling on one side more than the other. Its been awhile since I have used polos, but it seems I would pull ever so slightly unevenly and that caused my gaping up the leg. It took some trail and error for me to figure it out. |

| The easiest way to remember which direction to wrap the leg, is to go in the direction you would turn the barrel on that side |

I've done this by accident before too. You're probably pulling slightly more on the bottom of the wrap than the top and it's causing your gaps. |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | You said you wrap down... that might be where you're going wrong. I was taught to start just above the ankle, on the inside. Go once around, just to secure it, then do two wraps to support the fetlock. Don't go too low with that part or you'll end up with gaps there. Start at the same place every time, you should end at the same spot.
e.t.a. Ok, I just tried to find a video to show how I was taught, and sheesh! No wonder you're having troubles, lol. I don't think I saw two that did it the same way. Anyway, here is what I do. It says this is for hind legs, but I wrap front and hinds the same. I was shown this by a TB trainer at the track, so it's the way I've done it ever since.

I've NEVER seen anyone wrap like that before, but it looks much easier than any way I've been taught! I'm going to try that! |

Dang!! I wish I had seen that way before too!! I always ended up with the velcro not on the outside, and it looking too thick. My mare is really short, so I think I need shorter polos anyways, but I have GOT to try this next time! |
