Has anyone ever dealt with this? If so what did you do for treatment?

I did pose the question on SecondVet and he had not dealt with it but has heard of it. So I am stumped as to what to do. He is a pasture horse and don't really see how he could have had any trauma to that ankle.

Sometimes it can be a sign of generalized weakness of the hind end, and can also be associated with some neurologic conditions such as EPM.

Do you have a video of him doing it?

Edited to ask: Is this horse completely subluxated at all times, or just moderately subluxates as he walks?

Moderately. More noticeable when he gets up in the mornings after laying down. Acts kind of like his leg went to sleep is about the best I can describe it.

Is this something a good chiropractor can help with? I know my people dr. will adjust my ankles, knees and hips. My ankles are very loose.

Yes I think that will be my next thing to check if I can find an equine chiropractor in my area which is around Ardmore, OK. My chiropractor adjusts my ears for the ringing that is in them 24/7.

Hey, that is good to know, sometimes I will have ringing in my ears for weeks at a time.

If the joint is truly subluxating I would think he would need more than a chiropractor. We had one where we wedged his foot with plastic pads then took radiographs and stopped wedging once the subluxation was corrected. Then we put him in a cast. I think they finally took him out of the wedges not too long ago but it took a long time.
