Location: In The Snow, AZ | Our daughter is 8 now, my gosh how time flys!!! She rides the bus to school and I hate that there aren't seat belts. The ONLY reason we allow her to ride the bus, is the distance from our home to the school is approx 4 miles, and it's all residential streets. I've personally followed the bus, and know that it doesn't exceed 35mph. If her bus were to go on the highway, she wouldn't be riding it. I'm sure there are reasons as to why they don't have seat belts. But not wearing a seatbelt in the truck is illegal, yet throw 30 kids on a bus and it's ok. |

Location: Alabama | As someone who is trained and licensed to drive a school bus let me say, we do not need or want seat belts on a school bus.
Children are much more safe without being belted into those seats.
Thankfully there was no loss of life in this incident! Prayers for quick healing for all involved!

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | LOL, I was quoting GLP and it disapeared on me, lol.. But what I was saying maybe there should be two adults on these school buses now since theres more accidents happening so there will be someone extra to help with the kids if an accident happens. But thats my thoughts on this.. |

Location: Missouri | They are children, and while accidents may be rare for school buses, 1 accident is too many without seat belts. As I said before, they all can operate a seat belt at a very young age. Yes, this might make the stops take longer as you have to wait for them to unbuckle after the bus has stopped, but they are worth more than the cost of outfitting current buses or installing them on newley manufactured buses. Ask any parent who has ever lost a child, 1 is too many. |

I would like an answer to that question too.....WHY don't you want or need them? and HOW is a child more safe being thrown around or out of a bus than attached securely to a seat. |
