Tell me your experiences. I've mostly dealt with OTT horses and these specifically barrel/lil bit of cow babies are new to me. Pictures, Videos, and has anyone brought one through the BFA juvenile to the derby?

I have an own daughter with Driftwood breeding on the dams side. She is very much a free runner. She's 8 years old this year but is very watchy on the ground and riding her. I'm not sure if they are normally like that or not but she is. It doesn't matter what it is she spooks at it.....

I had a son that was also pretty spooky. He would spook at barrels that had advertisements on them.

I sold my 5yr old mare last fall out of Dinero, just simply because I'm not the trainer she needed to be with, I couldn't handle all her sillyness and spooking at things I swear she dreamt up! She needed to be in the hands with someone more advanced than me. I hear they are slow to mature but obviously when they do they are heck of a mount on barrels or the roping pen

I'm about to find out... I bought a breeding. I know that he retired sound at 17 or 18 years of age. I am a little worried after seeing that some have sold their prospects.

I have a 5 yr old, that you could probably shoot a gun off him. He's bombproof basically. He'll chase a tractor if your working the arena, easy to work with. Very nosy, lol. I'm behind in his barrel training, but not because of any issues with him. He's a love bug, in your pocket guy. He's not out of a fancy mare, she's pretty foundation quarter horse. i like him. Stocky and strong.

Just a clarification - is the Dinero you are posting about "PC Frenchmans Hayday", or is this post about another Dinero?

Thanks!

I think they need to have a job to stay busy, not just a barrel horse on the weekend.

Thank you.  I thought so, but wanted to make sure.  I have a 2 year old Dinero colt and he's going to be an amazing athlete, I can't wait to start him.  He is full of life (to the brim) but seems to have a good work ethic in the round pen, etc.

PC Frenchman's Hayday....I'm hearing very mixed reviews from the futurity world about him. I like Diva Dinero but the mare family that mare is out of was insanely talented. I'm hearing they are very spooky and flighty.

I had a son of Dinero out of the great mare Coxes Major Streak (daughter of Streakin Six) who was also the dam of Sherry Cervi's NFR mount Tinman. He was a very nice colt, not a mean bone in his body just had no desire to go fast. Granted he was very young when I had him, so I'm hoping by now he has grown up and gained confidence. I actually wish I would've kept him, he would be perfect for me NOT wanting to go fast right now lol.

I bred a mare last year to Dinero and unfortunately she came up empty somewhere around the 30 day mark. I just checked her in foal at 16 days last week, so hoping she holds this time!
