Location: Never in one place long | Our 4.5yr German Short hair keeps leaking urine when she's laying down and sleeping... we had her spayed when she was 6 months old (as recommended by vet). She appears healthy.
Took her to vet and he said she had a very mild bladder infection, we treated it for 10 days and she's still doing it. Not she seems to be super itchy and has never had allergies so idk if she had an allergic reaction to the meds or what? The vet seemed stumped... has anyone experienced anything like this before? |

Location: Texas | yes its not uncommon in spayed female dogs, especially ones spayed young. We usually treat with Proin (phenylpropanalomine). most small animal vets should be familiar with this and can point you in the right direction. |

Location: TN | My brother's lab has this same problem. Basically the muscles that hold the pee in their bladder are weak and when she lays down and relaxes urine comes leaking out. The vet put her on medicine and it seems to be helping a lot. I would look into it and suggest that to your vet as a possibility or see another vet. |

| My one year old Pit/lab mix is on Proin for this. Our vet explained it the same way as casualdust and Katie.

Location: CTX | Our heeler started leaking a couple of years ago, at first not bad, and since she is an outside dog it wasn't a problem, but as she got a bit older it got worse. So our vet adviced Proin like the others said, and it works like a charm. Last year I forgot to get a refill in time and she went without for a day and a half, started leaking within a day...So that Monday I went back in and got her more. She thinks they are treats!! So very easy to give. |

Location: ND--it snows, it floods, it snows, it floods | Our black lab did a couple of times and once she did it while at the vet and knocked out for accupuncture. The vet applied accupucnture to a certain pressure point and she's been fine ever since. He did say that if it got bad or anything she'd have to go on medication but so far she's been fine. Good luck! It's like human women that have hysterecotomies. Their bladder can move and cause issues. |
