Loves to compete Posts: 5760 Location: Oakdale, CA	So my 4 year old gelding has a wart in the right hand corner of his mouth where the bit rides. The last 2 weeks it has gotten big enough that it bothers him with a bit when I ride him. I know they eventually fall off but is there anything I can put on it to speed up the process or should I call the vet and have it removed??? any advice?? Edited by got boost? 2017-08-13 8:09 PM

Defense Attorney for The Horse Location: Claremore, OK	The warts are a sign of a weakened immune system. I'd try some AE Immune booster or something similar. Along with that, you can dab some Kopertox on the ones that are where the bit goes .

Sorry I don't have any advice Posts: 1975 Location: Sunnyland Florida	Here's your $1.98 cure for warts on horses. Castor Oil (available in wal-mart or any drug store by the laxatives). I've used this method since i was a kid. The virus can't live in the oil, works pretty fast, too. Apply a couple of times a day and you'll be amazed!

Location: texas	I rarely post because im a lurker but I ahd to let you know that this will work. take some scissors and clip a few of the warts off and even make it bleed a little. it stimulates an imune response and they will be gone in only a day or two. old timers would add that you feed it to them but Ive jsut clipped a few off and its a real life mistery but it works!

We had a friend do this with my mare's only colt---she used pliers and squeezed them til they bled and they were gone before long. I'd never heard of it, but after that Sean's big Paint got a couple between his back legs and he did it, and before long they were gone also. Dangdest thing I ever saw!
