Sterling gave up on me after about ten runs that turn out to be false alarm's, lol so I was going back and forth by myself and then gave up, was giving myself a headache looking into the box threw a tiny hole. |

| We were 100% in the path of totality in Jackson Hole. It was spectacular! |

Location: Southeast Louisiana | I was disappointed. It barely got darker here. I made one of those boxes and that was neat. I could actually see the details of the surrounding clouds, but the eclipse never did look like it covered maybe a quarter of the sun. I kind of wished I'd gone up to Kentucky to watch it.
When I was a kid I remember a partial eclipse, I believe it was in the 80's. It was much more memorable, but we must have been more in the path of that one. I guess that's why I expected a better show (more darkness) because this was going to be a total eclipse. Big difference being out of the path of this one in south Louisiana.

You got the instructions wrong for the box thing! You don't look through the tiny hole, you "aim" the hole towards the sun so that the light comes through the hole and is projected on the opposite side of the inside of the box. It is this "projection" that shows how the eclipse was progressing. It is basically the same thing that is responsible for the shadow patterns on my deck that came through the foliage of the tree.
Sorry you didn't get to experience this "life changing " event (come on, give me a break! Interesting yes.) better. |

Location: Missouri | We were in 100% totallity. I left work from noon till 2 and went home to watch. We had family around and my hubby and I got in the pool on floats with welding masks and watched from in the pool. I have some cute pics. It was pretty awesome. Our lights came on when it was at 100% covered. Roosters crowed and all the birds stopped. Crickets and night things were chirpping. We had a 360 degree sunset. I'm glad I went home to experience it instead of standing outside the building with the goobers that work here, lol. |

LOL, I worded it wrong , I got it right on the box but got tired of looking threw the one hole to see the sun threw the other little tiny hole in the foil.. But it was a fun day for me and Sterling, at least we can say we made the box's to see the eclipse even thou it didnt turn out the way I thought it would, lol..So in the next 7 years we will be better prepared for the next one, I'll make sure I get the right glasses for it the next time around |
