Has anyone had a Hilason brand horse blanket? I have read some good reviews online for them, and they are fairly inexpensive on Ebay.
1200D 400GM fill for around $85.00! What you you all think?

I don't know about the Hilason brand but I bought a couple of the TackRus brand off o eBay and am very happy with them. They seem to be well made, have an adjustable fit and don't break the bank.

Thank you for the reply! I just tried looking them up on Ebay and can't find any of that brand.

Can't vouch for that brand, but as far as cheaper blankets and sheets go... I buy "Tough 1".
Pretty cheap compared to name brands and the only issues I've had were rough horses that can tear up anything.
Also, if you ever buy Oxbow blankets and even some saddle pads...they're literally the same exact product as the Tough 1 or Mustang, just a different logo and more $$$, I have some of both.

I would like to find a waterproof turnout sheet with only 80-100g of fill. In VT, nights are getting around 40-50 and are going to continue to drop. I would consider just a no fill waterproof turnout sheet, but I've heard that they make them colder since there is no lining. What are your thoughts?

If you want cheap, the horseloverz house brand (McAlester, maybe?) holds up decently. I bought a few for some "sigh, I guess you can bring them here" horses I had out in the pasture because we were having single digits and it wasn't the horse's fault they were cold. They held up for the 2 years I used them, and weren't in too bad of shape when I put them away for the next cold snap. If you find them on sale, they are ~$40 for medium or heavy fill. They run true to size, so measure first.

I do not blanket until it is ~25, and even then if they are happy I hold off. If a horse is body clipped, I play it by ear. If they are huddled in the corner of the shed, tail clamped and shivering, I blanket. If they are tearing around like a maniac, head and tail up, "spooking" at everything, I just throw more hay and leave them alone. Most horses are happier at 40, or even 30, than they are at 70.

Thank you! It's not necessarily that I just want a cheap one, but I'm not looking to pay $150.00 for a turnout sheet..
