| Has anyone been to Saratoga Springs during the racing season? I'm thinking about going next year for Travers Day and was wondering how crowded, expensive, ability to find place to stay, flying in, etc. Thank you. | |

| I lived in Saratoga for a few years. It's very nice during racing season, but SUPER busy. There are plenty of hotels, motels, inns, etc, but I would recommend you book months in advance if you know the dates you will be going as it fills up very fast with people who come back every year. Great places to eat, a lot of great shops downtown, and the casino is fun! Racetrack is beautiful! | |

| Saratoga is a mad house during racing season. The amount of people that go is incredible, but if you are patient and plan ahead it can be very enjoyable.
You would want to fly into Albany. I would recommend renting a car because there is a lot to get out and see in that area. There are tons of hotels and motels all within close proximity to the track, and some small cabins if want to drive a few minutes, but as a previous poster said you will want to book long in advance of your trip. There are many restaurants in Saratoga and some can be pricey, but there are also the typical fast food and chain type places that are reasonable. Main Street has lots of shopping and food.
Going to the track you will want to arrive pretty early in the day, and unless you want to pay a small fortune to park on someoneβs lawn close by, plan on walking a pretty good distance from where you are parked. People line up at the gates when they open as many are trying to get a picnic table for the day. You have both ends of the spectrum at the track when it comes to dress. Some will be dressed to the nines with big hats and suits, and then some are in shorts and flip flops. Some of the higher end restaurants at the track do require a certain dress code.
If you go a bit north of Saratoga you are in the Lake George area and there are so many things to do and places to stay. Many donβt know this but there are actually 3 weekly rodeos all within 1 to 2 hours of Saratoga from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Itβs a beautiful area in the summer months, but be prepared for lots of people.

| Thank you everyone who replied. I've started planning-hoping I can get my sister to go. After watching Travers Day this year I'm wishing I could have been there this past Saturday.
