Hey all, has anyone had nerve burning prodecure for their back pain?   We have discussed back issues a few years ago so I know some may have had this done. I had my back injected twice (one month apart) in early 2014 and have had zero issues untuil two weeks ago. I got brave and joined a gym. I should have known better..

Herniated L5--- whos dealing with this issue and how
procedure-- Whos had it done and what did you think?

My hubby had it done a couple times. Nerve pain down the leg, got a couple years of relief, then had it done again.

Yes I had it done, It did help, but be prepared for 4-6 weeks of a lot of pain.
It helped for about 3-4 months.  Found a different injection guy and he made a lot of difference.  I haven't had my back done now for 9 months!!!

I have not experienced this personally, but my grandpa had it done for arthritis in his neck twice now. It wears off. I forgot how long he said but it worked great up until then when the nerves grew back and so did the pain. He said it hurt like heck when they did it. He didn't think he could stand it, but he made sure they numbed him up enough the second time. I know before he was having a heck of a time turning his neck and it was causing him to have fender benders. I was glad he got it done!

Yes, I had it done. I had it at L5. The first one lasted about a year. I went from not being able to ride at all. Well, I would start out at a barrel race and sometimes just riding around, I would get shooting pain to where I could not lift my leg to get off. I finally decided that I was going to have a major accident if I kept trying to ride through the pain.

After the shot, I was basically pain free. Because I had two issues going on in that area, one is arthritis and the other is the disk, I still had/have pain at times, but nothing like I was before. I was able to go back to riding.

It lasted for about a year and I started having pain again. Not as bad as before, but pain. I had another one. It lasted about a year as well.

I still have much less pain than I did in the beginning. There are times when my back goes out but they are few and far between. The last time was about 2 years ago. I don't ride much anymore. The last mare I had was big, wide and powerful. She hurt my back to just ride every day. She didn't lope a circle, she lunged a circle and it just killed me. I could make runs on her but I could not keep her in shape during the week. I now have a younger gelding. He is not patterned but he is smooth to ride and doesn't hurt my back. He is a lot easier on me to ride daily.

I vote is to get it done. My back has never gone back to the same level of pain as I had prior to the shot.

I've had it done twice so far.  The first time, Dr burned 3 nerves and worked for about a year.   The second time, 5 nerves.  It's lasted over a year and half now.  I have degenerative discs, severe scoliosis so a lot of pain.  Burning nerves has worked much better than injections.  Procedure hurts though!  I can't imagine putting a horse through it.  Horse can't tell you "yep, you're on the nerve, darn that hurts!"  Well worth it for me.  I've lasted riding much longer because of it.

I have had it done twice.  Not a big fan of it.   It seems OK for the area it covers. There must be some other issues going on so we may not be getting the total problem.  I want to get another area done.  I wish I could talk my wife into doing it but that won't happen.  LOL
