Next, the trap hack (that seems to go by many names including, coronet, sir walter, etc. It also appears that the Wild Child hack is the same exact thing):

There are only a few things slightly different about these two hacks. The Chuck Frazier has that bar going across the cheek pieces, and the noseband attachment is slightly different. I am trying to figure out if there is something about the CF that is so special that it would cost $200 more than the generic trap hacks.

| The way the noseband is attached on the second link is a serious design flaw. To make up for it, they used the solid bar. There's also less sweep to the shanks.
The first one is a knockoff of the Ugly (the original Bozo). The original Ugly is my all time favorite noseband of all time. They have an amazing feel and don't cause stiffness like most hacks do. I doubt the one you posted is as good as the Ugly. It's over priced in my opinion. But it's a lot different from the first one.
The first one isn't much more than a halter to be honest. My daughters mare ran in it when she first got started and the way it flips up became a big problem and cost her a lot of paychecks. It's cheap for a reason. |

Location: Kansas | I run my good rodeo horse in the second hack and love it. He's really setty and needs very little help during a run. Some friends of mine bought one like it for a really setty, light mare, and they actually unhooked the noseband, braided it together to make it softer & more conforming, and maybe even shortened the rope.
I've not used that first one because well, I'm cheap!
Honestly I don't see any real difference between the two hacks. |

| Not that a plain leather headstall and reins should cost $200, but that does add to the original price because it's a complete bridle, not just the hackamore bit.
I would say the noseband on the first one would add more flexibility to the control, but other than that, they are fairly similar. |

The first one is a nice hack but it's seriously over priced. The second one is a cheap knock off and doesn't look to very well made. I would guess it's an import.
I would contact L&W Bits and see what they have. I believe most call that hack a Jim Warner hackamore. |

I have Jim Warner hacks and the Trap hack and they're definitely not quite the same.
Jim Warner has more whoa and more swivel to the shanks than the Trap hack. Trap hack is similar to a Little S in terms of how much control you get from it. |
