| I saw they do have a demo program...
I have a triple creek full bar that fits my cowbred beautifully - Perfect really, even my chiropractor complimented it.
At home and arenas where the footing isn't real deep I can stay in the center of him well. When the footing gets deep and he has to work harder he gets a tad front endy and I struggle to stay balanced front to back on him - partially I think because I am 5'10 and he is 14.1 and physics suck. It's also not impossible I could go up a 1/2" in seat size - a definite consideration for a new saddle.
I'm looking for a saddle with a more ground seat. We rope in very ground down seats and love them, it fees like we ride down on them instead of on top of them.
I've noticed the seat in a G bar G is more ground and they talk about this on their website. Does anyone have opinions on how they ride? How they fit? I want to make an investment in a saddle that will fit a variety, although cowbreds are our specialty so a flatter, wider style horse, although not particularly mutton withered. |

Location: Randolph, Utah | I can't say for the barrel saddles, but we have 2 G - G stock saddles and love them! My dad had a custom saddle made for him and he will choose the G-G over it on almost every horse. Very well made saddles! |

Location: Way up North | I have one and like it well enough. I previously had a Jeff Smith and I LOVED the way that saddle rode, felt like I could stick with anything without trying but it rolled bad during runs and the sucker was heavy. I sold that to buy the G Bar G. It is considerably lighter and a well made saddle. It doesn't roll either. It rides nice, just not as nice as the Smith in my opinion. It has a flater seat which is fine if you like that just not my favorite. |

Thanks! Jeff Smith is another one on the list, I'm trying to find one local who rides one.
I do know a gal who had a Jeff smith and felt tipped forward in it - however she usually rides a treeless and gets waaaay back in the turns in it, so one persons tipped forward may be another persons balanced center? That was the first time I'd heard of someone feeling tipped in a Jeff Smith.
Weight makes a difference IMO given that my horse is small and I am tall. My goal is to shed another 10lbs this winter, I don't want to add it back in saddle! |

I am not small so the fastest way to lose weight for the futurities this year was to get a lighter saddle
I think which Smith you get makes a big difference. Mine was a heavy oil, higher front style. It looked exactly like a cutter but with a single skirt and smaller seat. I would not bother with the roughouts or the Mary Walker. I have heard good things about the Tami Semas line and the C3 and they are supposed to be much ligher but they are spendy so I haven't tried them. Mine fit my straight cutting bred cowhorse that I use for ranch rodeos but rolled on the racier built mare I run so it might work great for your style of horse. I do like my G Bar G especially when it comes time to carry it across the parking lot or throw it on, just wish it had a different seat style. |

Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | It sat really strange on my round backed mare. I will try and see if I still have the pictures. The whole front end of those saddles is strange to me, but seem to work for some people! |

| Which tree was that? I believe there are a couple, I would defiantly do the demo program before buying new and try/ride before buying used. Your mare looks a bit stouter than my guy - she has less wither for sure!
I thought I had a good set of pictures of him on my phone and apparently I don't...

Smokin,
What are you riding this beef cake in? That looks like a nice fit from the pics but would for sure require a very thin pad. I have a horse built similar and fitting is a STRUGGLE. |

It would have rolled right off her with any sort of padding underneath. An original Larry Coats, 2004 Model with a custom made saddle pad. |
