Expert Posts: 1631 Location: Somewhere around here	I have a full Quarter Horse bar Triple Creek saddle that I have been using on my horse for the past 4 years. My horse is now 8 and probably done growing out. This past summer he started getting little white hairs on the back of his left and right shoulder blade and I figured it was because my husband saddle because he was writing him for the summer in the sale barn but after a couple months of him not using that saddle and me still writing him with that saddle the white hairs have now grown into a spot of white hairs so it's definitely my saddle doing it. No white hairs have shown up on his back before this. Now I also ride in a ? Five Star pad. I'm wondering should I get a thinner pad or do I have to buy a different saddle completely?

Elite Veteran Posts: 929	Do you see a dished out space behind the withers? Does the tree of the saddle fit the horse when cinched up or does it gap in places and fit tightly in others? If you run your hand along the underside of the saddle while it's on the horse can you feel even weight distribution or does it feel light in some spots and heavier in others? (Like where the white spots are?) If yes to either of these things more than likely you will need to find a new saddle. It is not uncommon for younger horse's backs to change as they age. I see lots of people spend thousands in saddle pads when what they really need is to try a different saddle.

LOL Oh I agree! Wee are trying to come up with something plan to buy a used one in our price range and I could sell my saddle to make up for the money. Now we just need to find one in my size and at a cheap enough price!
