I teach high school health science and I LOVE it. Yesterday my teaching partner's (we have three teachers in the Health Science department at my school) took 27 student's to regional competition. We had about 577 students competing in 27 different events related to leadership, health care skills, communication's and knowledge test. Of the 27 we came home with 22 who qualified to compete at the state level in March. I am beyond happy about this but I am really wanting to tell you about my kids. While at the competition yesterday we had food trucks to serve the kids, teachers and judges one of the trucks had a line of about 75 people in it and had for about an hour. Three of my students went to the back door of the food truck and ask if they could help. The owner said they really could use some help so these three students literally rolled up their sleeves and jumped in and helped. The were in official uniforms which are blazer, white shirts and skirt or slacks and dress shoes.

Another group of our kids were in the hall when a judge asked, where they could find somewhere to eat lunch, my student told them to wait right there and they called me to get the information when I told them instead of telling the judge where to go they went and got food for everyone of the judges we had 65 judges and delivered so the judge did not have to get out in the rain or stand in line.

Sorry folks but that is not all my kids did. At the end of the awards we had to wait for our bus, while waiting the college staff began to clean the gym and my students all 27 of them jumped in and started helping clean the gym. When we loaded the bus one of the other teachers told them how proud she was, one of the kids spoke up and said Mrs. C those people wanted to go home like we did now they don't have to stay late to clean up.

So the next time you see the bad in young people turn around and you will see a WHOLE lot of good. I truly love these kids and this career God has given me and so does my two partners.

I do want to add all these things happened after my kids competed they did not do this to help improve their chances at winning. This is just the type kids we have at our school. We are a very small rural school that has about 60% free and reduced lunch and we are considered below the state poverty level.

Great to hear stories about good teenagers!  It seems all we see on social media is the negative, we need more of these stories ????????????

I love this.
When I hear people saying bad things about today's youth I tell them: "Those who critisize this generation often forget who raised it..." That usually shuts their mouths pretty quickly LOL

There are still good kids out there and behind those good kids are good parents who taught them right and good teachers still teaching and allowing good things to be done. You could have easily tolds those kids no, to hurry up and wait, or to sit still and be quiet, but you didn't. Way to go in helping to raise them right!

You get more out of kids when they know their teacher cares about them. They always put me in the testing room with the discipline problems because I can at least get them to try. Please say a prayer for my little boneheads that they passed. Results for retests will be back Jan 18, I think. You are blessed to have good students but you have made them good productive people.

Awesome to hear some good about our kids today!  There are so many good kids out there doing great things but it seems we only hear about the ones doing not so great things.  Thank you, and keep up the good work!
