Location: LA Lower Alabama | We had a cheap rumba many years ago that went on tile then climbed a strip and went onto the wood floor and lower napped carpet. We think the strip did it in because for years it was awesome then one day it clunked. Like every few inches it made a clunking noise then errored out. Turns out googling the error showed that was an issue with that line or roomba but we still think it was climbing that strip that truthfully did it in. I say get one though! |

| I really like ours. It is an off-brand that was cheaper. I run it when I am cooking, so I can keep an eye out for it to get stuck or not be able to dock, like others have mentioned, but that all doesn't bother me. I also sweep my (laminate) floors about once a week, but the vacuum really seems to help keep it picked up during the time in-between. |

| I have the Bissel robot vacuum, I just got it at walmart ~$200. Best money I have ever spent! I have all wood floors that are super dark walnut and show EVERYTHING and 2 indoor cats, a mostly white border collie who sheds like you wouldn't believe, a german shorthair, 3 kids, and a ferret. Believe me when I say it gets put to the test every day. I have it set to run daily on a timer and I love it so much! It picks up all of the pet hair and random other things that get tracked in from the yard and barn, and all I have to do is empty the little bin which takes about 15 seconds. It's only gotten stuck once and that was on a washcloth the cat drug out of the laundry. I will say I have a pretty strict rule on people not leaving their crap all over the house so all I do is take a quick glance at the floors and I'm usually pretty good to let it just run but if you have socks and things laying out they will have to be picked up or it will get stuck trying to eat them. I haven't had it try to eat my cat and dog toys (mostly little catnip mice cause everybody at my house loves them!) if it does run into them it just backs off and goes a different direction. It does vacuum on a random pattern, which really annoys some people but because I run it daily I don't really worry about it. If it misses a small spot today it'll get it tomorrow and I just don't care that much. My floors look better than when my teenagers sweep it so I consider that a win! |

It gets sand and dirt the dogs bring in but doesn’t pick up black lab hair and can’t ever just turn it on and let it go because it always gets stuck under out entertainkent center or recliner. Also I started picking it up and putting it where I wanted it to clean because it seemed like it always started in one area of the house and stayed there. I decided I would just rather vacuum. I have a tiny house so it doesn’t take long if I could just find a hard floor vacuum that was worth anything. I’m on my 3rd and nothing so far picks up black lab hair. |

Have you tried a shark rotator pro? I have one and I’m hard on vacuums. It’s great! It it the lift away model that I can used the brush roller head for carpet and the wand/hose head attachment for wood floors. |

Location: Blissfully happy Giants fan!!! | So we have had a cheap model and now we have the Roomba that self docks, self cleans, runs on the app, etc. The cheap model was fine-not smart AT ALL- but it died on us so we had to upgrade. The Roomba now we got at costco. The first one was a lemon-kept forgetting its settings. Costco took it back after like 3 months no questions asked. The 2nd one is fine. We have an almost 5,000 sqft house and it needs to clean about 3500 of it. All hardwood floors and I have 5 dogs. Setting it up is the important part. It will map your entire house and then you make sure you set where you want it to go first, where it shouldn't go, etc. It gets stuck every once in a while but it is not all of the time. It can't do our entire house at once. It gets about 2/3 done and then has to go clean itself and charge then it goes again. I don't have time to clean my house all of the time and with 5 dogs, this is a life saver. It gets most of the hair and dust and that is good enough for me. Worth the money IMO. BTW, I really want the one that also mops but I need a few more generations of it to come through before we splurge on it. |

| I have an EcoVac Deebot. Wasn't very expensive, but it works great for maintenance between actually cleaning. Cleans my hard floors great and the carpet. |

Location: CTX | So, I was looking at getting one, but we have 2 rugs with fringe on the edge and I am worried it will eat all the fringe and wreck the rugs, or get stuck and wreck itself.. Anyone has experience with this? |
