| I was able to try one last fall, loved it, opened up my horses shoulders and stride immediately and we made a run in it - made our fastest run of the weekend by almost a half second, despite having only ridden in the saddle twice and it being very different from what I was riding.
I ordered one mid December and just got it earlier this week. This afternoon will be the first chance I’ve had to lope in it, darn weather, but I’ve ridden it 2 or 3 times this week and really love it as I’ve riddled with position and stirrup length.
General comments -
-sits behind the shoulder and has quite a bit of flare, really frees up the shoulders. I’m going to pair mine with a shoulder relief cinch as well. I run a cowbred who will go to his front end so the more free I can keep him the better.
-42* bar angle so flatter than a lot (I believe at one time I was told 46* was somewhat the standard and double j can build their Xwide on a 35*)
-the high front and back look intimidating but really aren’t. I can still get up and out of it, and you stay centered and upright in the turns. If you like to lean waaaay back, it may not be for you.
Quality and price wise - you get what you pay for. I spent less than $3000 on mine and it is beautiful, heavy quality leather and the craftsmanship is superb. It doesn’t take long to get to the same number in a Martin or Double J and the workmanship is better IMO - I’ve owned both brands before.
The new Jackie Ganter model also interests me, I’d like to sit in one if I ran across it.

They're very expensive.
Not anymore so than a Double J or Martin. Defiantly more affordable than a Burns or a Stoney.
I kept mine basic but classy for under $3000. |

From what I am reading from Chali they run smaller.... Is it because of the higher swell and higher cantle? From what I have read I should be in a 15.5-16" seat. I have never rode in a seat that big. I like extra room and have found that a 14.5 - 15 is plenty of room.

| I find they are true to size, I usually ride a 14.5-15 and I bought a 14.5. The one I test rode was a 15 and it felt a little big. The 14.5 is perfect. I’m 5’9 and 160lbs, athletic, I don’t carry it more in my hips or upper body, pretty evenly spread.
Chali did a video on the FB page about the way you want it to fit. One of the most common issues I see in general is folks wanting to be squished into their saddles tight. Not that it doesn’t work for some folks, but a lot of issues with getting pitched forward and your feet getting behind you would be fixed with a bigger seat size.
If you can get with someone at all who has one close to the size you’d need, I’d really suggest trying it. They’re selling a lot of them so that should be getting easier and easier to do.

| I ride a Jeff Smith "Tami Semas". He no longer makes her saddles, I mean I like it okay for the mare I run. But, it sure doesn't fit very many horses. It's a regular and I ride race bred horses and it has left some dry spots for sure. Maybe even too wide and settles down on their shoulders. I rode a C3 first, and sold it because it was a little too deep of a seat and my legs wanted to go behind me. I recently bought a Conrado with an Ivy Tree and I like it (THE BEST). |

| I have heard they can feel smaller.. So today I measured my Pozzie from where the swell meets the seat to where the cantle meets the seat and it is 11. My Burns is 10. Someone who had C3 that was a 14 thought it was more like a 9 or 9.5 through there. So I am going to investigate before I order. I have room in both my Pozzi and Burns but I don't like being squished into one! I did see a C3 today at the race I was at and I think even if it is a little big it wouldn't be a problem! |

I hated the tree in the Semas I had. Way too much rock and flare for any horse I own. If you liked the fit of the C3 but didn't like the high cantle, you should try a regular Jeff Smith. |

Location: Arizona | I thought they were a tad pricey too but then again I haven't bought a "new" saddle in so long I thought a new saddle would cost around $2k...haha, not even close. I was at a barrel race a few weeks ago, Burns Saddlery, Roohide and Robbie Phillips were all there with there saddles. New saddles ran about $3800-$4700 for a new semi-tooled saddle. WOW!! I had no idea they were that expensive. Yikes. I have been looking at the C3's.....they sure have been getting a lot of hype lately...Hmm...I am hoping to try one out on my mare soon. |

I have rode a Burns for 7 yrs and I love it. It has held up really well, fits most horses well and is comfortable. The one I have does not have a super deep seat which I like. As far as quality goes it is very well made

Location: Texas | I just bought one 3 weeks ago. I personally like it. Prior to I rode Coats and Double J Pozzi. My new horse is a free runner and very strong and quick and I felt like my pozzi threw me forward on him. My first run in the C3 I had one of my best first barrels on him and was barely out the money at our first rodeo this year. The quality is great and its super comfortable to me. I was a 14 in my Pozzi and coats and got a 14.5 in the c3. |
