My hip goes out and I really get off balanced on that side when I ride tight circles. Has anyone delt with this ? It's my right side and I think it's from years of lots of driving.

Do you ever see a good chiropractor?

I started seeing one a little over a year ago and he’s made a huge difference for me. I had severe lower back/siatica pain and well and in my neck and shoulders from having an hour and 15 minute commute one way and sitting at a desk all day. I’m sure the rest of my lifestyle didn’t help, but those were the main contributors.

Chiro did some X-rays first and then I went 2-3x’s a week for a few weeks working down to as needed now.

I have always had issues and thought it was my hip I finally went to a cranial sacral therapist and she did wonders for me. It was actually my SI joint getting jammed forward, I could barely get off my horse when it would happen. She worked on me and I went home with a foam roller and some exercise to help, she also showed me what to do to get it back on my own. It has been working good for me, and it is a very gentle therapy.

I would suggest working with a personal trainer. I bet your hip flexors are tight and hip extensor are weak and stretched it. Probably need to strengthen your abductors adductors and work on your core too. An overall fitness program would really help. A balanced strong body will do wonders for any type of physical activity. Get cleared by a doctor first just to make sure you don’t have any specific issues.

I second hip flexors. My back muscles would hurt after I rode. Went to an English trainer and she had me really stretch before I rode, and what a difference!

Chiropractor for me.
I get a lot of good stretches and excersizes from my Chiro to help strengthen the muscles around my hips to help with muscle memory. When your muscles are stengthened your hip holds in place easier.

ETA: Yoga is very good for building hip muscles. Research the different types of yoga and see which type fits your goals and your physical capabilities before jumping off into something and hating it or it being too difficult. Yoga is more for the mind and soul but the physical benefits are very great as well. I do a quick 10 or 20 min sun salutation every morning before my shower and feeding. It really helps.

Curious what you are currently doing (as a person!) to help manage your hip. Chiro? PT? Massage?

If you aren't doing anything, now's the time to start!  Regular chiro and massage help keep my left hip in proper place, for me.

Just food for thought mine was a torm labrum (hip socket) so the more I tried to exercise/stretch my way through it the more I messed it up. Had a somewhat gruesome surgery in 2011 and after 4 month recovery it has been awesome ever since. Totally worth it. Just in case I hate to see you make it worse before they can fix it. MRI to figure it out. Like my husband said, you would do it for your horse  (I hate when he is right)

I totally agree with this and that’s why I suggested getting cleared by a doctor before doing anything.
