Location: Montana | I know, everyone gets tired of these.
Let's say you were looking at a couple of prospects. One is FG x Smoke N Sparks bred (grand get of both) and the other is DTF x Separatist bred (grand get of both). Both prospects are equal as far as conformation goes and as far as price goes. If you had to pick one or the other, which would you pick? Pros and cons of each, please, and why you'd pick one over the other. Both are yearlings.
Personally I'm divided because I've always wanted a DTF bred colt, but I've also wanted a FG bred colt too, plus there is a Smoke N Sparks mare currently dominating the barrel pen locally. But so is there DTF horses winning locally too. So hard to decide!

| For me, it would be the FG based on the maternal line. I like that maternal line better. |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | Another thought is that Separatist mixed very well with First Down Dash. Look on Stallionesearch.com and pull up Separtatist. 6 or 7 of his fastest runners came from FDD or DFC daughters. I don't know if they can turn or not, but it does seem to be a very good cross. |

| If you've narrowed it down to two you really like pick the personality that suits you the best. Do you like very passive or more aggressive horses? I like grit and one thats not dramatic when I get onto them. I like to pick the yearling thats pretty arrogant and cocky, the one that thinks a lot of themselves is usually my pick. I know when I start them they won't get all butt hurt...instead they tend to "argue back" lol

You offer a very convincing argument for the FG x Smoke N Sparks colt, LOL.
I like personalities that are more in your pocket, likes to get along, tries hard, doesn't necessarily get butt hurt, but is down to business. I don't do well with the hard heads who like to argue back. Had one, she's working very well for someone else, LOL. |

| The Smoke N Sparks arenβt the most user friendly horses. There are a lot that are counterfeit. Based on bloodlines given in this post, Iβd personally take the DTF. But Iβd like to see both pedigrees and not just a few of the names in it. |

This has two full siblings (that I know of) kicking butt.
I don't like basing decisions off of a grandget of this or that. I would like to look at the actual studs they are by and see that maternal line first.
