Is there any way at all to research horses that aren't race horses (equibase) that didn't show at breed shows (AQHA)? I am trying to find any info at all on this mare and her pedigree:

I am not impressed with anything I see but the owners (whomever it is...) bred her to a decent stud and I want the colt but it appears the mare side contributed nada to this colt. Any info on it?

There are a ton of horses that don't have records.  Just because she's not in any databases doesn't mean she's not a good producer.  She could also be a great ranch horse (based on pedigree) or other working horse. 

Best bet would be to try to get into contact with the owners and then ask them what she's done in her lifetime.  If she's AQHA, there will be an owner name in the records.  FB and Google are many times great helps in finding people.  If found the owners of two fillies that are full sisters to my filly, and some owners of a horse a friend sold that we were wondering about.

Location: Gainesville, TX		She may have shown under a barn name. Just googling can sometimes bring up printed results from various things or even on facebook. Equistat obviously for barrels, rodeo, cutting, reining, pleasure events. Sometimes the allbreed and information on it can take you some interesting places. Otherwise, just making some calls to previous owners or breeders is your best bet.
