Who is the governing body (like the BBR for Barrels)?

I have been watching on an off this morning and it is a total clusterflock. There are a gazillion cowboys and horses in the pen.  Horses with halters tied in the pen.  Horses standing loose in the pen.  Cowboys standing around and shooting the bull.  Ropers are being called for their turn and not anywhere ready to go.  A few minutes ago a roper was backing in the box to rope and guys starting running across the front of the box to the other side where a fist fight broke out.  I mean seriously talk about drug out and unprofessional.  Someone should be embarassed.

I kinda thought the same thing as I sit here and watch while at work.  I don't have much experience with ropings, but they seem to be a bit unorganized, lol  The announcer has yelled at them a few times and I think they cleared out alot of horses.  I heard one announcement that horses in there tied with halters needed to go outside, lol

UCR - United Calf Roping is the governing body.

If they are all standing there the calves have to run sraight. :)  At least that is my experience with Calf Ropers.  From what I watched it looked like a typical rodeo slack around here.

Pretty much .... but when you are filming it for the public and trying to put on a "professional" event, it is kind of a different situation ..... they did clear out quite a bit ....earlier there was about a 30' path for the calf and roper to get down with horses and cowboys just lounging around ....

I've never been a fan of this rodeo and the way its run.  Wouldn't walk across the street to spectate.

I so totally agree with the unorganized in this roping.Yesterday with the barrel racers I didn't get to see half of them because they said of technical difficulty.Well I noticed there were none today.Imagine that!

Bc the calf runs straight....theres only slack to advance from so no big deal but guys that draw up in a normal rodeo and get performance vs slack don't actually have the help of "legal cheating" to make the calf run straight

Plus I have seen them do it for one calf roper but the next one, they disappear. Especially if its a new guy or one that isn't a local but they know he can durn sure rope.

True because they can and do beat them anyway, which is a total hoot! The team ropers did this to my exBIL - they thought the Colorado boy was just a punk till he out roped them. Then all of a sudden he wasn't allowed. Same with my husband who is ranch cowboy, if he was one the good bay heel horse of my sister's they wouldn't let him rope either and he was only learning to rope out of the box. Locals are the bane of my exsistence, or used to be when we rodeoed.

I understand what you are saying on the "local" level ... I just didn't see any of that going on in THIS slack....there was a line on BOTH sides for ALL ropers.....

I have to laugh, and not meaning this snarky or anything at all, but you all must not watch many amateur rodeo slacks..... None of this would be surprising at numerous amateur rodeos around here. Some of the things I've witnessed....... well I'll just say, it's too good to be made up!

oh for heavens sakes

Have you never been to rodeos where the performance no one stands right?

Slack there is a line....its referred to as "cheating legal" and just a benefit of being in slack at these small rodeos
