Ok, so I'm going to start this with saying I know VERY little about bits!
I just bought a mare the other day after being out of riding for years. The trainer working with her was riding her English and using a Myler level two bit. She said the mare doesn't like a tom thumb or a regular snaffle. I haven't rode her much, but I do feel like I'm going to need something that will give me a little more stop. What would you recommend? She seemed to ride good otherwise with that bit, other than chomping at the bit a little.
Thank you!

What mouthpiece on the Myler?
I donβt blame her for not liking a Tom Thumb, theyβre junk and should be melted down IMO.
We have a shanked Myler that has a low port with a barrel on it that we like to rope in on some of ours. I would look for a Myler with the same mouthpiece and a little shank and try that. Another go to would be a 3 piece colt bit with a little shank. Honestly youβll probably have to try several to find the one that works best

I just heard back from the old owner and she said she's in a Myler D with low port comfort snaffle. I may jist get one of those until I can try some different bits.
