From anyone's personal experience, how did you make some side money when you were/are a start at home mom with little ones (1-3 years old)? My horse and I have been doing great in our exhibitions and I'm really ready to start running him in the Open but I just don't have the side money to pay for entry fees.

I clean houses part time. I charge $25/hr and bring all my own supplies. I always meet with a potential customer first, so I can see their house and give them a quote on how many hours I think it will take me to clean. I just gave a quote to a customer, and their house is huge, I said it would probably take 16-20 hrs to clean, so if I get it, it would be once a month, $400-500. I do have a few regulars, and people that just want a one time cleaning.
Edited to add: I'm sorry I kind of missed the mom part!

No worries! I've done my mother-in-law's house a while before but I had to stop when I got heavy pregnant with my 2nd. I talked to her about starting up again, which I can probably start this week or next, but that's only $20 per hour and after the first initial clean up (lots to clean) it only takes me an hour to do dishes, vacuum, organize, kitchen, and clean bathroom. I might ask to do her laundry and charge a little extra. But even then it's only once a week.

Taking care of someone's child? I know around here a lot of people have a hard time finding a person they trust to take care of an infant or toddler if they don't care for day care centers. I have recommended students for this and once there was a black lady at a parent student meeting with a little white kid that I know she was taking care of. She just brought him on to school. If you already have a couple to take care of, one more will not make much difference.

One of my clients bakes at home. Folks know she does it, and they order what they want when they want it. She stays busy, and it's her side money she says!

I have been a full time stay at home MOM for about 8 years and have homeschooled for 11. I recently connected with a fabulous lady that is a Bookkeeper / Tax preparer out of her home. I am working for her at my home and I go over to her house about once a week for my to do list.  This is perfect as my son will be graduating in one more year and she is wanting to teach me all about her business. So, you might start asking all your friends if they know of someone like this.  This was a God send to me!  Just enough work for a little exra money and  learning new things as well!
