Did any of you see this?  A pic of the famous Louie as a colt doing reined cowhorse.  In the comments, the guy comments that he was passed up for being too broke! No such thing!   But this is cool!

Comments -
Bill Fischer Performance Horses Just to give a little more background, I started Louie as a two-year and showed him his 3 and 4 year old years. I don’t believe that I ever showed him anywhere in the cowhorse that he didn’t win a check. He was super athletic and trainable-you never had to ask more than once.

At the end of his 4 year old year, I recommended that he become a barrel horse and the rest is history. I did have several barrel racers turn him down because they said he was too broke and those aren’t the kind to make it. My reply was that if he didn’t make it, the wrong person was on him. Louie couldn’t have landed at a better place than with Lisa.

Wow, that is funny.   I have read a lot of stories that most of the good ones are difficult, I guess they look for horses with that edge.   Louie will always be one if my favorites.

Along these lines, I have a friend who let a pro girl try her horse at a big show at Waco, priced in the mid 6 figures.  She got thrown forward a little on one turn, the mare waited on her and she said because of that she did not want her even though the next day she placed 2nd out of 700+ entries.

I bet he gets some cattle time even today!!!! LOL Those are the best horses... Those are the ones that can stand up in non ideal ground conditions... All these barn babies that only see perfect manicured ground etc, Louie and others just know how to get it done.

I agree 100%.   Definitely a perfect fit.   He may not be the horse he is today without her and vice versa! We may never have known her name either!

I believe Lisa had qualified for the NFR on a sorrel horse named Chisum and a mare called FSC Bugs Outasight and a grey gelding named Sterling. I believe that was her NFR A Team one year.  She was a Canadian champion and then qualified for the NFR before Louie. I remember when she ran Louie at a jackpot (locally) and won the jackpot. I was talking to a friend of hers that said "Lisa had a really good run on her buckskin". Little did we know what he would go on to accomplish. BUT, Lisa had a name in the barrel industry before Louie, that I can assure you.

Yes! And she still hauls Chisum. Both Chisum and Rosa plus Louie went to Vegas with her this year...if I remember correctly.

Agreed! She was a "somebody" to me before she even made the NFR. Multiple circuit champion. I watched her when I was a little girl at the rodeos and when I got my permit in the early 2000's I was all starry eyed when I saw I was running against her for the first time. I definitely knew who Lisa was long before Louie

Louie gave her more of a name boost in the Barrel racing world and really got her more known out there I think..

Louie gave Lisa a big boost and got her more known to the barrel racers I think. I know Lisa already had a name for herself but Louie got it more out there.
