I am searching for a saddle that is under $500 yet is still a quality buy. Is this realistic? I honestly can't afford anything over that as I am saving for college and another horse. And is buying a used saddle being stupid? The saddle I have now is a beast and I am looking for a barrel saddle that doesn't break my back or the bank. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I was in your shoes a few years ago. I chose a used Circle Y Proven. I still have it and it’s going strong. I paid $500. And it is very comfortable!

You should be ok. Are you a member on any of the saddle Facebook pages?

I have a circle Y NBHA I’m looking to sell.

You shouldn’t have any trouble finding an older circle y, billy cook, even a teskey or NRS would be a quality name, Corriente too.

You could get a nice used barrel saddle on a lot of Facebook pages and check out Craigslist; there's some golden eggs out there ;)

Thats absolutly doable!! you just have to look hard, the deals are out there. Ive never gotten a new saddle just up until this year but that was only because we won it. All my other saddles have been used and i love them! already broken in and comfy (:  i found a used Circle Y the Proven, and traded a girl my billy cook for it. You could also look into Corrientes, They are really nice quality for a reasonable price. Im sure you could find one within your budget!

I just saw this one and thought it was great saddle for that price.  I think it is much smarter to buy an older well-made, used one than the new, cheaply built saddles that are out there.
