| So I'm looking at a Double C Saddle and asked about it on here the other day, but couldn't get much info on them. I called a dealer of them and they told me they're made my Team Steinhoff.
So my questions is.. How are those saddles? Are they worth the money? Do they keep your legs where they need to be? Fit different horses easily?

Location: LouLouVille, OK | If I remember right, Steinhoff saddles were saddlesmiths at first... so if they are built like those, I can tell you my experience is, I had 2 Saddlesmiths that fit absolutely every horse I put them on, and I loved them... If my butt hadn't grown I would still be riding in them lol

Location: Texas | I used to have a Steinhoff saddle that I liked a lot. It fit me a little snug, I think because it had a very deep seat. Anyway, It fit my horse pretty good, but he is very wide & flat, so I ended up finding a wide tree saddle for him, and selling the Steinhoff. The one thing that was hard to get used to was that it sits lower in the front, shorter horn, not a "tall" pommel at all (lower swells). Once I grew used it that feature, it didn't bother me. My feet did stay forward in it also. Leather was decent quality, and reasonably priced. | |

| So I heard back from them and the gullet is a measurement of 7 1/4. I don't know the best way to figure out if this is too wide for my mare.. how do I measure this without the saddle being where I can try it on her? It won't let me attach a picture. | |

| My Steinhoff saddle is over 10 years old, and I still ride it regularly. Unfortunately it is starting to show it's age. I have ridden this saddle a lot and for many miles, and it has never made my horses sore. I got the extra wide tree at the time, not sure how they measure them now. I've ridden mine on a lot of different horses, but have a narrower tree and wider tree for the ones that this doesn't work on. Mine doesn't seem to sit me forward or back, but keeps me right in the middle. Last I checked these were still a mid to lower priced saddle, and I will admit that the quality is not like my Martin or 7D, but for the price I'd definitely own another one. | |
