| Is there actually a boot that doesn't crack and get holes from the constant wet dry wet dry of doing chores?
I want something to ride in(so must be able to put a spur on), clean stalls, wash off horses, and that lasts me longer than 6 months!!
I have nice luccheses for going to town but I want everyday wear boots. |

Location: Southern Indiana | I love my Ariat terrains for barn work/riding at home! The do make waterproof ones and you can put spurs on them, even if they look a little silly. I NEVER wear actual boots at the barn. I used to get the ariat fat babies and they lasted a long time, but its the terrains now. I even have a pair of slip ons that are like tennis shoes. |

Those were at the top of my list. My only concern was if a spur fit on them. Also they are sturdy right? Like a can't do tennis shoes if a toe grab caught me it'd go right through those suckers. |

| I also like my terrains for working around the farm, but I almost never ride in them. One I just donβt like the way they feel in a stirrup, and two I much prefer to ride in a pull on boot where my foot may be able to come out if I get hung up. But if Iβm going to be on my feet doing chores and other stuff I generally where those.
My riding boots are currently Ariats. I like the soles because I would walk through a leather sole in no time flat, but they arenβt super βgrippyβ to make my feet feel stuck in the stirrups. |

My boyfriend wears spurs on his. I never use them at home so I havenβt tried. They are pretty tough. They are leather and have some padding. The slip on tennis shoe ones I have are a really thick leather. I have no problems riding in mine. Order from Zappos so you can ship them back for free if you donβt like them.

Location: Somewhere around here | I did that with my Ariats, and they lasted about 4 years before water and dirt got in from a crack. I bought a new pair that fits my hard feet amazing so I just use them to ride in and a occasional wash since that helps my boots confirm a little better. But I don't use them for town, mucking stalls, or any farm work. I'm hoping it will make them last even longer this time. |

Location: my piece of paradise | Tin Hauls hands down. Ive got a pair that are going on three years with everyday use. They are a great boot. The bottoms are made out of the same thing they make skateboard wheels out of so they are very durable. |

Location: CTX | I second Tin Hauls, very sturdy. I also bought a pair of Double H last month, they are mens boots, but the 7.5 fits me fine (I normally wear a size 8 in womens) and are very good work boots. |

Tin Hauls don't crack?
I scrub water and feed buckets twice a day and wash off a lot of horses plus my own. My boots are getting wet dry wet dry wet dry all day. I don't want to buy an expensive boot that is gonna crack at the sides in about 3 months of use.
I realize most ppl aren't as hard on them. |

Rinse off your boots at night, let them dry over night, apply a conditioner that is also a waterproofer about once a week. Aerosol conditioner/waterproofer is about $5... Worth it to get extra life out of any boots.
The brand is not the problem, the leather drying out is the problem. I get so many extra months out of my work boots this way... |

| I really like my Ariat Fat Babies! They hold up great, and I found them brand new online for $45.00! Can't remember the website now, it's been awhile. |

Location: Illinois | I wear mens Rocky ropers. They hold up to several years of hard use and I haven't once ever cleaned or conditioned them. They just get sprayed off with the hose for cleaning. And the lining is waterproof so even if I get cracks or holes in the leather my feet are dry. I had one pair for about 5 years and they had holes in the top where the boots crease at my toes and I had the seam on the top of the foot ripped open, but I could stand in a creek with my feet submerged and it wouldn't penetrate the waterproof lining. I have big feet and can't wear womens boots well, but I had a pair of womens Rocky's once and they held up the same. |

Have not had a problem with it. I do condition the leather every few months as well. That will help you from having cracking and help waterproof them. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I love love my Ariat Terrains, so darn comfortable they are all I wear anymore, I do have other pairs of boots but my Ariat T's is what I put on everyday. I have a pair of Justins Gypsy's that I love too so I kinda trade them out every once in a while. In fact I just order me another pair of Ariat terrains just now they are on sale today at Sheplers so I thought I would get another pair since this is the last day of the sale, heck of a good deal on the boots, I love that they have a heel and ride in them all the time, I dont have any need for spurs so never tryed to put them on.

Honey I'm straight lazy. I'm lucky to change the clothes from washer to drier at night or in the morning. When I get in the house at about 9-10 the only thing I wanna do with my boots is take them off lol
I take care of my nice boots and get them cleaned but barn boots nah i could never see me even spending 5 mins on care even if it saved me $$.
I'm thinkin about trying the ariat terrain's just to see if they last a bit longer than ariat normal boots or twisted x boots.

I'm lazy too when it comes to taking care of human boots, lol.. There is a water proof Ariat terrain but to me they lasted about the same as the non water proof, my ariats would last a good 6 to 7 months when I did alot of work out here and washing off horses every day, the string would start rotting around the toe area and then the strip around the toe would start peeling up, so I would go threw about 2 pairs a year, but the comfort of these boots kept me buying them, I have a pair that are going on a year old now and still look good but I havent abused them much latley cause I've been useing my awesome muck boots quite a bit when I'm needing to rinse horses off are change/clean out water barrels. But I'm one not going to clean and take care of my boots, if dirty they will stay that way till I wear them again, lol.. |
