| I have to feed bute for a few days. I can’t squeeze the darn paste out of the tube without a fight and smearing it all over. What the heck!! Do you mix it with some honey or maple syrup and put in a different syringe or what??? I just about got my finger bit off trying to get it down him!!! This stuff is so thick it’s ridiculous |

| Can you mix it with his feed? Add something wet with it; water, applesauce, etc...
I have also gotten 2 treats and put the paste in between them; like a really horrible oreo cookie. But it worked!
I always have the paste on hand but I also keep the tablets. That way you can crush it and put it in feed and they never know it's there.

Location: North Dakota | I had the same issue too. Put the tube in a glass of hot water for a couple minutes, it'll come right out. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Yep maybe heat it up, I noticed during the colder months is harder to squeeze out but during the summers when its so freaking hot it will shoot out of the tube, so be careful if you do heat it up you made get more out then your needing.  |

Location: Southern Indiana | I always get the powdered kind and make my own paste with syrup or just put it in their feed. Most of mine eat it.
I would squeeze it out and add a tiny bit of water and stir it up until its a little more runny. Then put it back in the tube or another one. |

| I get a syringe, cut off the tip so it has a big opening and put it into the syringe before trying to put it in my horse's mouth. :) |

This is how I give bute now; I crush the pills into powder and mix with a little molasses and warm water. My horses practically eat the tube.
At first I thought the tube of bute was a genius idea, but then after trying to give the first dose and practically breaking my fingers off, I thought never again. Hot water does the trick, but that tube is still cumbersome and a PITA. |

| These tubed medications and pre-race pastes are all a pain!! They are definitely made for huge, male hands because I have no luck with them. It's a real heartache now that Bute is $39 a tube!!
One thing might be adding to your difficulty though. Bute paste should be kept whereabouts 70 degrees. If it's cooler it's even tougher to give. |

| Thank you so much everyone! I filled a glass with hot tap water and let the tube sit in it for about 10 min. Then squirted the dose on his grain and herbs and used the hot water to dissolve it and soak up into the pellets. Worked like a charm and he ate it all!!!
They really need to change the tubes they are huge. And 35 bucks a tube is ridiculous. Ugh. Oh well hopefully it’s not a long term deal but now he’s eating it so good that it’s not even a problem dosing him |
