classicpotatochip - 2018-07-07 3:46 PM When I was showing I just used baby powder the day of the show. Get them as clean and dry as possible then powder.
Yep I did the same, and my horses always smelled so baby fresh.. LOL. And sometimes when going into a halter class we would leave a little bit of a white path going into the arena.

Wait a secβyouβre saying stockings should be white?? Β
In my part of SE AR we believe reddish brown to dark brown are the normal colors of socks/stockings. . . . I've wondered about the "purple shampoo" I use on my blonde highlights, how it would work. Same principle as the bluing products??
I would think it would- the main purpose of the purple shampoo is to take the yellow out of grey hair. Remember purple haired little old ladies? Might have been a fad, as well, but try it- I used blueing to get manes and tails clean and white. I was too lazy to bend over/squat down to do legs. Now I have a bay with only a little bit of white on her feet! Now that I think about it, I bthink the purple hair was the result of a weekly rinse- Fanci-Ful. You can still get it at Walmart-
I use a certain shampoo for my sliver/gray hair at least once or twice a month to make sure I dont start getting any yellowing going on, one I like is Shimmer lights and another I use is Jhirmak silver brightening, you can get these at Walmart.. I never thought to use them on horses, I really dont give my horses a shampoo bath anyways I just rinse them off really good and wash their tails about 2 times a year with the Orvus livestock soap and then condition.Β Β
Those are the exact two I use Miss Roxie. We have a red roan Paint who just may be getting a bath soon with Momma's purple shampoo

shimmer lights shampoo. Our pony is a bay roan with 4 white feet. When they were showing lead line that is what I used. makes them all sparkly and fresh :

there used to be 2 shampoos that worked good - Quik Silver & Shimmering White - not sure if they still make those or not.

My whole horse is white! I am fond of the Cowboy Magic whitening shampoo. Cant recall the exact name. Some whitening shampoos make the hair really dry. The Cowboy Magic does not...and it leaves him bright white everywhere--even his tail.
