Location: USA | Vet did a full work up on him.. Blood panel, fecal and a rectal with an ultra sound. The ultra sound turned out good, everything looked great... kindney's looked good, everything was normal size, nothing unusal, no tumor (which I was concerned about). No sand, waiting on the fecal and the blood panel that shows minerals. His other blood test came back all normal. The vet agreed it sounded like he is having gassy colic bouts. Where it comes and goes so fast. Just need to figure out what is causing it. I'm doing another month of ulcer meds. I didn't realize that the first round of meds they gave me had the wrong size scoop with it so here I've only been giving him 1/2 a dose for the past month. So now I have him on full dose. My vet was going to call WSU and run everything past them to see what they think. So I'm thankful everything looks good... just would like to know the why and what I can do to stop it. |

I'm glad things turned out good for him and hope that you can figure out what's causing it.

| You might try running a treatment of Psyllium through him. He could have sand in his gut. It will cause them to have colic like your mentioning. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I wonder if the oats or alfalfa could be giving him gas colic, I would take him off alfalfa for a few months to see if that makes a difference then if not then I would take him off the oats for awhile too and see if theres a difference. I really think one or the other could be messing with him. |

Location: Carpenter, WY | we had a horse that had reoccuring bouts of gas colic and finally lost him. The neucropsy found that his cecum was about 3 times larger than it should be and that was the reason for the gas colics. Never would have known without the neucropsy. |
