Location: Northern Ontario		My 3yr old colt stops very niclely on his hind end. I sit at a lope and he stops on his hind end(sometimes slides a bit) but he sticks his head up every time. I hardly touch him and he still does it. It way better than before though when he used to have a nice headset but threw himself of his forehand. Also, he works well and stays collected in large and medium sized circles and he drives around the barrel in smaller circles too but again he sticks his nose out when turning hard. When he stops with his head up and turns the barrel with his neck stretched and nose sticking out, is he hollow? He is still on his hind end and driving. I have never had a horse of his caliber and athletic ability before, so.its kind of new, but he is amazing to ride

Location: Mountains of VA		He's just a 3yo..........you are asking a lot from him physically. Sounds like he is getting sore in either his stifles or hocks. Do easy work for a couple of months then go back to all the tight circles and barrel work. Lots of walking hill work will help.

Location: Northern Ontario		I don't think so though....he was broke at 3 with a pretty slow start and has only had 140 rides on him so far....most which were 20-30 minutes. He hasn't been ridden hard and we fast loped the pattern maybe less than 10 timed so far.... the rest has been trot and slow lope and I have been doing pattern work maybe 3 days a week in the last 3 months. He is also regularily seen by a chiro and he is good if he was sore in his hocks, it would show up in his loin. Its just a bad habit. If he stops with his head down, he throws himself on his forehand
I want to find a happy medium
