My adventures continue ! I will be traveling all the way from southern CA to Mesquite at the end of this month ! Itβs my association finals so Iβm making the trip. One quick question...they gave me the host feed/tack store info and I called to make sure they have all the stuff I might need when Iβm there. Seems they do, BUT got to thinking , if i need a bale of alfalfa should i worry about blister beetles?? I can bring all my own feed but was trying to pack a little lighter. Lol anyway, just a thought and happy to be visiting your neck of the woods!

I feed Cubeit hay co. Alfalfa cubes steam pressed easy to break apart good quality and affordable Idaho alfalfa. Russell feed sells them and they have several locations near your route. Best
(quality and price
) alfalfa baled Iβve found is in Iredell between Stephenville and Waco at Six C Feed

Bring your own hay. Always bring your own hay when traveling out of the region where the hay they normally eat is grown if at all possible.

Thatβs what I figured. And Iβm only going to be gone a week, not a month so I will take more than I think I need. There is a tractor supply in mesquite so I know where I can go in a pickle.

Your coming to my neck of the woods. I actually work in Mesquite just a few miles from the arena :

No you wont have to worry about blister beetles. There is a decent feed store with really nice hay and alfalfa not that far away either. Whose the host feed store?

Yep Exactly. I figured in a pinch all TS stores are pretty much the same so I will be fine. :

Most of the alfalfa in Texas is shipped in from places that do not have blister beetles. I would still take your own hay and if you get in a bind go buy some.

This is true.
The only time you will find hay that is baled here and sold here is if you buy from a private party.

The alfalfa you will find around mesquite is definitely not grown local. Its trucked in. The feedstore I told you about has nice hay! And if worst comes to worst, you can drive to Terrell and buy from Poetry feed. The barn I'm at gets all of their alfalfa from there and its where I bought mine before I switched to hayrite.
