| I just had my 2 female labs spayed this week, Monday to be exact. Both done together. They are a month apart in age. They are 10 & 9 months old.i have an older in tact 6yr old male lab, hes never been around any dogs except spayed females so hes never bred or even experienced a female dog being in heat. Up until today, hes always ignored, actually avoided, my two females, they use to annoy the crud out of him wanting to play and he never wanted anything to do with them. Well now, hes decided he wants to "get romantic" so to speak... I cant figure this out! I have to put up a baby gate to keep him out of the back room where I put my girls when its crate time and if I let them out in the yard he sits at the back door whining to get out to them... I caught him trying to mount the older one too. Hes being downright obnoxious! Why on earth would he be doing this now AFTER I had them spayed.? The girls arent acting interested in him they just want to play like they always have. Of course I'm not allowing them to rough house since they just had surgery but I do let them out in the yard to stretch and get fresh air. | |

The vet didnt mention anything to me about them being in heat. I've had all my cats done there too and he did tell me if they were in heat at the time. The only thing the vet said was my older female had a slight hernia. | |

Nope! My husband is reluctant to get him neutered, I am not! I warned him if he doesn't straighten out in a few days he will be going to the vet. Everyone wanted me to breed him to our females but i am not interested in bringing more dogs into the world with our shelters so over crowded and dogs being put to sleep because they have no homes... I'm not going to add to the problem! The puppies I got were a gift to Jacob when he was going thru his cancer treatments. I ended up with 2 beautiful purebred females, who know are happy and spayed! | |

IO | my husband was reluctant about neutering his hunting dogs when I first met him.Then I educated him on the cancer problems AMONG MANY OTHER PROBLEMS,that an unspayed or un neutered dog brings.After seeing some of the issues first hand,he will no longer have a dog that is not fixed.Not knowing the age of your male,he may or may not never quit doing what he is doing,neutered or not,however,for the safety of your dog,especially health wise,I would neuter ASAP,HOPEFULLY,he will stophis behavior,if not,he will still be a better dog. | |

Hes 6 yrs old. He is an absolutely stunning chocolate lab, built right and has an excellent pedigree but I didnt buy him to bred. I picked him up, believe it or not, at a grocery store parking lot when he was just a small puppy. The breeder had 2 pups left and wanted them gone. I got him for $50 lol! Everywhere we take him people comment on how gorgeous he is and he thick he is. I have a man hunting us down because he wants him to breed to his females, he saw my dog at the vet and started asking questions, I took his card but never called him, he then ran into my husband asking him if we'd consider studding him out. I'm not hesitant for one second to nueter him. The clinic I use is booked full for surgeries till the end of next month, so as soon as I can get him in there I'll probably take him, much to my husbands dismay! | |

I think its the smell after the surgery that might have turned him on. Years ago when I had one of my females done my male dog was in love after I got her home and he didnt even pay her any mind befor. | |
