What's the likelihood of a horse coming back from a high suspensory check ligament Injury? Is it a career breaker? I have never dealt with this. Is it worth the rehab? Thanks

Mine had 40% high tear, tore bone, bad deal, was given less than 19% chance of recovering to pasture sound, never expected to compete again. I did PRP, wrapped with Runners Relief every night for 3 months, completely healed at 7 months, out for a year to be safe, went on to compete for 6 more years til retired. I had another that his suspensory tear healed but had nerve damage that continued to bother him. Nerved it but did not help, he was not pasture sound and ended up putting him down after 2 years and lots of $$.

Accurate ultra sound evaluation, PRP, lots of stall rest with daily laser therapy, magnets. Ultra sound every 6-8 weeks to check progress. Donβt start anything but hand walking I until itβs 90% healed.
Iβve had some really bad ones, one was torn at the origin. Theyβve all come back but it took a lot of work.

That's good to hear, sounds like you need alot if patience to get the rehab done right.

I also iced and did magnets during the day. My vet had me riding mine 15 minutes at a walk starting at 2 months. At about 3 months I was gone for a weekend and my son let him out into a huge run. I was mortified and took him immediately in to get an ultrasound and he looked great, better then other patients of his with the same injury that amount of time post injury. I let him stay in the run and started giving him pasture time, by 5 months he was out during the day. Every ultrasound showed improvement so my vet said to keep doing what I was doing. I think the movement helped the scar tissue heal strong and not bind and cause more problems.
