| I'm going to rant just a little here: People are over feeding their young horses. They want them to look like a halter horse for some reason. That is going to have severe negative effects on that horse. Simple is better, especially if you dont know what you are doing. |

    Location: North Central Iowa Land of white frozen grass | Its basically just good nutrition and enough protein. If your lacking something thats the best their going to get. And you need to work them. How many athletes do you see that look great that lay in their bedroom all day ( stall ) and can perform with the athlete that is working everyday ( outside ). |

              Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I believe in a good simple feed like BlueBonnet, good hay and let mother nature do the rest.. As long as this horse is being fed right everything else will come in time, dont rush it. We all went threw a growth spurt at one time.  |

| Thanks for the responses! It's been awhile since I've had a young horse, and hes pretty sucked up from getting broke. When he comes to me in a few weeks, I plan to start him on good hay, alfalfa and pasture. Wasnt sure about feed. I like how my 10yr old gelding looks on the feed I use, but didnt know if I needed to maybe use a growth formula. Was worried about too much protein with the alfalfa. I'm thinking about throwing an Equipride tub in his paddock. Seeing what everyone uses :) |

      Location: GODS country | Free choice pasture or good grass hay (depending on the time of year), alfalfa and renew gold. They also have access to a lick tub (HorsLic Omega Elite). |
