So as we all know as horse people we are trying to cut cost and still give our horses the best life possible.  I recently bought a used Theraplate which I love but sometimes they just need a little more if they have a knott of something that needs to be worked on.

I had a hand held deep tissue massager and it broke and I was looking at options but someone mentioned to me the other day about just using a car buffer.

So how many of you have done this? did you add extra padding ?

Just curious is all.

Thanks

I use a tennis ball and just rub the area out with that. Easy to take with you. Easy to replace if the dog steals it.

Me, to! And I'm a tennis coach so my supply is endless.

I have an equine massager. Horses hated it. It will vibrate one to death but they need more of a direct deep pressure. Tennis ball sounds much better.

I use my hands and the Masterson Method - but I think I’ll be throwing some tennis balls and maybe a golf ball (I use golf balls to roll out my feet to relieve plantar’s) to help relieve my hands - I want to do more than I do, but hand cramps suck.

I have the Wahl handheld massager from Walmart and my horses seem to appreciate it. It's not too strong and it's got different attachments to use for different spots if needed. I have a massage person and a chiro that come do routine maintenace monthly and this seems to help them between visits. Even if it's not "fixing" an issue or doing a specific thing for soreness, they seem to like it after a workout so whatever makes them happy they get. I have used a tennis ball in the past, but my dog tends to find them & destroy them & I get tired of replacing them. I also have an older PowerMag from Nikken that was for me that turned into a horse tool, although it's probably 10 years old now and probably not that effective anymore
