Just curious what you all vaccinate for yearly. I know everyone is different

Vetera Gold XP (5 way + WNV) made by BI (we live in the PNW, so I think people in other areas may vaccinate for other/more things), plus we do the intranasal strangles.

Vetera Gold 5 way + w nile and rabies here in Ct

All but strangles!  Tetanus and rabies are regularly included.

If I was doing very bare min, Rabies, Tetenus, Botulism and Lepto. All horses are at those risks, Everyday. Even if they never leave the place.

What I do:

Eastern/Western/Tetanus- once a year, will booster tetanus toxoid if a wound or hoof abscess occurs outside of 6 months from last tetanus

West Nile Virus- every 6 months (we have mosquitos year round)

Flu/Rhino- every 6 months, training barns more frequent, horses that dont leave their property ever you can prob live without it but I give it still.

Rabies- once a year

Strangles- the only one im ok with skipping, but I give it in training barns with colts because the risk is so high. 

I just started using the Vetera Gold XP this year. My vet questions the effectiveness of it with it being only 1cc for all those diseases. But it is the ONLY one that my horses don’t have any reactions to !!! Previous I was having to give one at a time a week apart. Not fun. My vet does not recommend the strangles because of the rate of bad reactions. She said she only uses it if there is a confirmed exposure.

Do yall usually have your vet administer these or have you found it cheaper to buy online and do it yourself?

I buy mine through my vets online pharmacy. That way if there is a reaction or something happens, my vet can work with the manufacturer about the situation. If you buy them from any other source your never assured on their handling, etc. Vaccines are very sensitive to handle so I don't trust the feedstore. 

Sounds like I'll just have my vet be doing them then...I live way up North so you make a great point. Figured I'd ask to see if there was a dollar to save!

I order them from vet BUT I give them myself... wasn't sure I was clear on that. But they come from HER store. Hope that makes sense. 

I would at least buy them from a veterinary clinic so in case theres a reaction you have recourse.  I'm not sure exactly how it works in regards to vaccine reactions if you gave them yourself from a vet clinic but I do know if you buy them yourself online or through a feedstore you're most likely SOL.  All the adverse reaction reports I've had to turn in through the clinic were easy and the owners were compensated.

Yearly I do (in NJ):

Rabies, tetanus, rhino/flu, wnv, encephalitis, strangles.

I do not do fall shots unless the mosquito born diseases are prevalent for that year.
