Location: Georgia | Im looking for opinions and referals on feed through suppliments for a horomonal mare.. Id like to try something feed through before I go to ReguMate or Altrenogest. She is 6 this year and seems to be getting worse with age.

| I like maraclicious from Animal Element. It will also help those grouchy geldings as well. |

| If you truely have a mare with hormones all over the place, regumate is the way to go. Yes its expensive but my mare was SO MUCH MARE, she is an angel on regumate 24/7/365! :) |

I believe this is making her a bit sore in the back, so im hoping to find something to help both of them. I dont think she is bad enough for ReguMate but I have no problems going to that if a feed through does not work.

Location: Bandera, TX | None of the supplements helped my mare, Regumate was a bit messy. We've been on the Altrenogest shots for about a year and absolutely love it. |

Location: Georgia | How often are you giving it? And how many CCs? “None of the supplements helped my mare, Regumate was a bit messy. We've been on the Altrenogest shots for about a year and absolutely love it.”

Location: Bandera, TX | My mare is a very, very big girl. She does best with 1.5 CCs about every 10 to 12 days. We started off with 1CC every two weeks and that wasn't enough for her. |

I considered the shots to but my vet told me she sees soreness for 1-3 days on " Most mares" she uses the shot with. Brood mares are fine, thats their only job but for performance mares to have soreness for, on average, 6 days per month, she told me regumate is the way to go. |

Ah good info. This mare is already sensitive enough I dont need to add any extra soreness. Do you give reguMate on feed? |

Nope, it smells horrible and very medicine smell. I put on gloves and squirt it in her mouth. But I am male so I don't sorry to much, but I have never had any get on my skin etc. My mares heats are so bad she will lay up against a fence and scream almost. Its Horrible! But you saddle her and its all business. LOL She tries her heart out for me so I take care of her. LOL |

Its labeled for 10cc/day and the bottle is 1000cc/ml so if given at the normal dose rate 1 bottle lasts 100 days. HOWEVER, I have played with it on her and for 3 weeks out of the month ( She always comes in heat last week of the month) I can get by with 7-8cc doses.. On that last week, or if I haul, she gets the 10cc dose. THat will stretch a bottle for me to about 4 months. Over winter I can usually just maintain with the 7-8cc. My vet has an online store and I watch for sales. Most of the time its 300 a bottle, but sale just took it down to 180 so I snagged 2 bottles. THat will last me for about 8 months hopefully. |
