Today is
My husband and I have about a million and one things going on in our lives and we just added another by opening and starting a farm store from ground zero. We have been Sioux Steel Livestock Equipment dealers for years but decided to move the inventory from our farm to an actually store front location in town. One thing has led to the next and now we are a complete feed and livestock equipmnet store. I am trying to think of other things to add to bring people into the store and give them a variety of things to look and at purchase. We are in the middle of remodeling the office currently and will be having a big grand opening event in June. Any suggestions or fun products out there let me know. Thank yoU!
Have thought seriously about doing something along these lines, so I'm interested too
When we go to a feed store in town, I like to look around. I am going to browse by myself, while my husband gets his supplies. I usually end up buy things like different and unusal bird feeders (hummingbird and seed). Wind chimes too. Yard ornaments or plaques with sayings about outdoors. Some "garden themed" note cards. Cheap or expensive. Usually a mix. I also would get a very small mix of unusual plants. Like the ornamental peppers - just something that might catch a person's eye for a gift. Our garden store even has a few basic gift bags with paper and some non gender basic birthday cards.
As far as livestock, maybe a small selection of grooming tools in bright colors for children and a few good quality ones for adults. Basic halters, leads etc.
Good luck on your new adventure.
PS - if you need fresh, Georgia grown pecans, I know where you can get some
Items of interest for women ~ young and older. Trendy jewelry, purses, t-shirts. Also magazines: most magazines will let you return unsold ones for credit. ie: barrel horse news, mary jane farms, mother earth news, livestock news, etc. Another thing is dog supplies.
Lots of women will shop at the feed store when picking up feed and supplies.
Feed store here says they get a large percentage of their income from bedding plants
