Location: /ARKANSAS | I have never, never been out of hay. I feed mixed grass and was shorted by 50 bales. What do I substitute. I have 3 horses on5 acres and feed alfalfa pellets and nutrena safe choice original. I have always fed hay to make sure they get the forage they need. I don’t know whether to chill out or hit the road to find hay! |

| I'm down to about 10-11 bales but my pasture is booming so I'm not nervous... yet... but if I had to I'd either go with hayrite or other hay/alfalfa cubes to supplement. I've always fantasized about not feeding hay and dealing with the mess and waste and inconsistency of it... and just feeding cubes but I cant convince my husband of that. |

Location: Claremore, OK | I’ve been buying all the hay one hay farmer produces for the last several years. I woudve had enough but couldn’t use the last cutting since it had foxtail in it. I ran out of it last month and am now buying Az. 3 strand Bermuda for $22 per bale (100# bale) . All of NE Ok (I think he whole state)is totally out. Some people are just starting to cut fescue right now. |

| I put mine on Hayrite cubes about a year and a half ago. Hay is hit or miss here. Theres no consistency and I cannot afford to buy $125+ rounds that are trucked in and sold at the feed stores. Mine look amazing on Hayrite and Renew Gold. There isnt alot of grass on the place we lease but I rotate them so they get a few hours a day on decent grass. I do leave out a round for them IF they get hungry but its been about a month and the 3 horses have barely made a dent in this one. Its looking like its going to be another tough year for hay here since its been to wet to get in the fields to spray or fertilize. I couldnt tell you the last time I remember a good hay season. Its been awhile! Good luck!!!! |

Location: LuluLand~along I64 Indiana | Here in So Indiana i have never seen it as short supply as this spring. I have curtailed my consumption with adding soaked beet pulp shreds to try and strech till the first cutting gets up but its been too wet to cut dry hay with no help in the 10 day forcast. |

| I actually picked up a bag of these new alfalfa cubes called Cube it. Zero bentonite so they crumble pretty easily. Fingers crossed itll be good for my crew.. I can get a ton in a large tote for $425 , alfalfa out of Idaho. |

| Have you tried Omnis Cubes? I'm very lucky, with all the rain our pasture is doing fantastic so I'm not having to feed hay, but we buy our alfalfa from a guy who trucks it in from out west and compresses it to the smaller bales, its expensive but well worth it. |

Location: Oklahoma | I bought grass roundsin March that were basically cattle hay. One was OK, 2 were full of stickers and weeds. Will have to burn them. I had good Bermuda/grass hay last year but only had enough til New Years . I have one allergy prone on Alfalfa cubes and Total Equine .. , others get oats n Alfalfa pellets as well as grass pastures . I found this is the best to do to make do without spending a fortune. I like Hayrite or Top of the Rockies cubes. I am OK w Standlee pellets but their cubes are horrible . Doubt grass will last all year. It burnt up in August last year whereas a good wet fall it will last until Nov . Hay seems to get more and more costly every year here in OK and less of it. The prairie grass is growing in pastures and hay fields but the Bermuda is not- too much rain and not enough heat. Another problem I find is buying hay that gets moldy in storage from the extreme humidty and temps in summer and fall here.

| Our crummy coastal went up last year $1.50 a bale and that's us picking it up ourselves from the field and loading it. My feedstore just started carrying timothy hay and it looks lovely, it's a little more $$ per bale but I'm not planning on buying my usual 150-200 bales of coastal this year. I'm going to give these cubes a try and maybe just buy half the amount of hay and see how they do. I'm sick of the waste of hay and the stuffing of the hay nets. They really pick at it anymore ... |

This is the first year I've had to purchase anything other than alfalfa and native grass hay! The summers are so short up here to begin with so most farmers only get 2 cuttings. On top of that, the hay shortage in Nebraska caused everyone to jack the price of hay WAY higher than it normally is and sent it south. Luckily, I found some hay that was about 2 hours away from me that wasnt too outrageously expensive. Beautiful timothy in the 3x3x9 squares. I'm not sure if ill be able to get my boys to switch back to regular grass hay! They LOVE it. |
