Location: MN | We just bought a house that HAD a island sink until the little ole lady decided one day she hated. She had the entire island replaced and the line capped off!!! We bought the house from the lady where I was boarding my horses at the time. I had spent a lot of time in this house before we bought it so I was pretty flabbergasted that she hated it and I was sad to see it go. Especially since we wound up buying the place!!! She also had an obsession with the color red...so I have fire engine red countertops For now... In short - there have been several times since living there that I wished that sink was still there!!! |

| I rented a home that had the sink in the island. I loved it! The dishwasher was there as well. I had a TON of cabinet and counter space. |

Location: Montgomery TX | We just bought a house with the sink in the island, it was one of the selling points of the house. It allows me to look out 3 large windows over our back pasture while I am doing stuff at the sink. The dishwasher is also there and I have a decent amount of prep space there also when cooking. So lots of stuff gets done with an amazing view!! |

Location: Deep South | Our current house has a sink in the island. The one we are building now will not. Sinks accumlate dishes (no matter how hard I try to stay on top of them! lol) and I prefer when the mess is off to the side rather than piled up at the center main focal point of my kitchen. I also love the large uniterrupted workspace that an island offers. It's really just personal preference. But I would definitely want my dishwasher right next to the sink regardless of whether it was in the island or not. Don't want to be transferring dishes across the kitchen every time. |

I'm with you on this. I'm rather obsessive about containing my kitchen mess and another sink would be just another place for dishes to get piled up. Plus, my island is the focal point of my kitchen and like you, I love having all the prep space. My kitchen is a good size but not large enough to warrant a 2nd sink. But that's just me. :) |

| A friend has a sink in her island. It's just a small sink, like an extra for cooking or quick hand wash. She has a single large sink for her dishes which is next to her dishwasher. I think it's kind of cool. |

Location: Missouri | Oh I see! I totally misunderstood. I was thinking of a small prep sink. If you have room for your dishwasher, and lower cabinet space for pull out drawers in the island to store all your plates, utensils and cups, I would not mind having a sink in my I'd island. I'd just hate having to walk back and forth to put dishes away in my uppers on the wall cabinets you know? |

Location: South Central Florida | I have one, faces the family room. I LOVE it. My counter steps up plus counter on both sides. I designed it so no wonder I love it. We could not afford solid surface 20+ years ago, but the only thing I would change. Also dishwasher is beside the sink in the island. |

| My island has sink and dishwasher, and also looks out a bay window to the backyard. It works in my kitchen because if it were in any other spot, I'd be staring at a wall. I do have a LOT of counter space and cabinets also, not sure if that's caused by the sink/island or not. |
