My good mare got a stone bruise a few weeks ago, and she's also pulled that shoe off a couple times inbetween that on the same foot. my farrier is very good at his job and cares about her and her soundness, ive talked with my vet, who i also trust alot. and a couple other people. I'm getting a lot of mixed signals as far as what i should be doing. I had to vet out of my favorite rodeo, which really bites but its not worth it. she is sound, but then you can tell she steps on somthing that bugs her and will be LAME for a few steps then will work out of it, ive maybe put a handful of rides on her, cause she looks like shes ready to be rode, then gets sore and i put her away again ive been told to start treating for an abcess, but then my vet said not too yet, dont want to make her soles soft, we want to harden the soles my farrier was out last night, her sole is pretty hard, slight bit soft near her frog, and can see slight bruising, she was very irrated when he was nailing on the shoe to her inside wall, thats where we think the bruising is. its fustrating because shes very off and on. one ride I put on her she felt amazing the entire ride, and then as I was cooling her off she went sore... does anyone have any advice on stone bruises. I have no issues just giving her time, but if i need to be doing somthing then I want to start. she does not have any swelling or heat anywhere. we all beleive the issue is the bruise |
