I need ideas for cushioning a grazing muzzle, the headstall part coming down the side of the face is rubbing my horse. Tried rolled cotton and vet rap but still rubbing the hair off...any ideas?
You can buy sheepskin covers that are made cushion halters. They just Velcro on. I ordered from Jeffers.
I thought about these but they will cover the Velcro that hooks the muzzle. I wonder if she got in a pinch if they’d both unhook??
It's not a cushion, but I use something called "Body Glide." It looks like a tube of deodorant, and you just rub on the fabric and face. It helps to prefent chafing. I have a Paso who cannot go out on pasture during the growing season, so it's either a muzzle or dry lot.
Put the muzzle on a breakaway halter, then no worriers about getting hung up..
