Location: Willows, CA | I had an interesting call from a customer on the East Coast today. She told me that she had been reading a post about Renew Gold Senior somewhere stating that it did not have what we say it does. If you know me at all, you can imagine my response. At that point she said that what she meant was that there was not enough joint support to fix a lameness. Well, that is another point completely. There have been a ton of posts here about feed through joint supplements. Renew Gold Senior is not a joint supplement. I have chimed in on this before. Though I might do so again. We hear so many conflicting reports on feed through supplements for joint health. One person says they did wonders for their horse, another says that they fed exactly the same product and it was worthless. Why? Different causes for the horse to be lame, but exibiting in the same way. What a feed through will actually help, in general, is inflamation caused by a lack of adequate lubrication within the joint. If, on the other hand, the horse has a mechanical injury, you are not likely to see significant changes with most feed through supplements. That brings me to Renew Gold Senior. The joint support in this product is formulated to be a prophylactic. In other words, keep the joints synovial fluid both plentiful and of the proper thickness to properly lubricate the joint. This in turn can slow both inflammation and progression to arthritis. If you have a torn ligiment or a bone fracture or spur, most feed throughs will not help your problem. If you have a heavy use performance horse, long term use of a proper supportive formula may add years of use by limiting daily wear and tear. |
