Currently in contract on a farm and wondering if anyone has had experience renovating an old barn to be setup for horses?  Any input would be greatly appreciated!

We bought a farm a few months ago and have been working on the old tobacco barn. Our plan was to convert it into a big run in on one side and use the other side for hay and equipment storage. It is 50 feet long and about 30 feet wide. Once we got all the trash out that the previous owners left, we have spent a lot of time using big magnets to get old nails/metal out and make sure it is safe. We cut multiple holes in one side of it and then built a fence inside along one side of the aisle. Kind of like stalls but with no separation in between so they can all come in to congregate out of the weather. Our hay is stacked along the opposite wall which makes throwing bales out very simple. So far it has worked really well. They seem to like that it has more coverage than a traditional run in and they can get completely out of the wind and rain.

Our plan is to eventually build an actual horse barn with tack/feed room, washpit, stalls/runs etc so that is why we didn't fully convert it. It's kind of a rough space but very functional and all we really need for now.

what kind of old barn?  Years ago, we bought a place with an old bank barn on it.  We tore out the old milk stanchions that were in there, filled in the gutters, and made one side as a run in area & the other side had 2 huge stalls.  It was much warmer in the winter & cooler in the summer with it being a bank barn.
