Hi all,

Would love some advice or recommendations.

I'm in Canada - our pandemic restrictions have been extreme in that all rodeos were cancelled in 2020 and looking like that will continue in 2021. I feel like I'm stuck in my ability to grow as a rider and competitor. I like to plan super early so I'm looking at the possibility of an internship in late 2021/early 2022 in Texas or Arizona (preferably). Futurities and breaking colts is not part of my interests or goals. I would LOVE to be able to intern with someone with pro rodeo experience but realize those are hard to come by. I'd love to be exposed to all areas of competing in the states and help out in every way that I can. Ideally, I would be happy to exercise horses too.

Any suggestions on anyone to start reaching out to? I realize this position would be unpaid or very low pay.

Sharin Hall is looking right now for help. Working for Futurity trainers would be great experience, and could lead to pro rodeo contacts.

A very sad state of affairs in Canada right now, time to start demand OPEN UP!!!

Thank-you :) My biggest concern is not having enough knowledge to work with young horses. I've been riding my whole life and competing at tough 4D races here in Canada but always on my own horse. I'd love the chance to swing a leg over more and learn different styles but options are limited here. Maybe I am underestimating myself

Yes, I would love it if we could open up! Very disappointed with how Canada has handled everything the last year

You will do good, just keep an open mind, and know that you are capable, and what you don't know, you will learn. There are some very good barrel racers in Canada, maybe check out Cloverleaf Connection for intern possiblilities, to get started with.
