so frustrated... i LOVE love love my 5 stars but i cannot get them to work with this one horse. he is round and out of shape, yet has a good wither and a short back and lots of movement. He is tiny 14.1 BUT wide shoulders. getting a sadde to fit is like finding a unicorn.

I have been through 10 at least. i'm so over it. i'm going to try to get one that is the closest fitting i can find and just get a pad to make it work.

So far CSI wont work and 5 stars tried: 3/4, 7/8, 1", nope.

so i'm thinking about getting the classic equine Shock Guard says The ShockGuard Pad is made with revolutionary XPF foam that is open celled, breathable, lightweight and durable with a self adjusting profile. It provides maximum impact protection throughout the entire pad surface. Plus, it is pliable and easy to clean even after extended use.

or I may have to try team equine or maybe imact gel which i hated before when i tried them in the past ...

any suggestions are welcome.

I have heard so many GOOD reviews about the Saddle Right pads, this would be something I would look into.

Just saw the pictures, the saddle looks way to narrow to me, this is why I"m betting the saddle is just not fitting, I dont think its a pad issue its more of a saddle issue I think.

Edited to add: What brand is this saddle? What type of bars does it have?

Have you tryed a Double J wide or a #10 tree?  If not you need to talk to Double J and show them these pictures maybe they have a saddle you can try on trial basis.

I have both saddles and they fit my geldings that are built pretty much like yours, but they are a bit taller.

I bought used double j pro #10 wide and it doesn't work either. I have pics of that one too. It sat so weird looking on him and wanted to roll.

Well that sucks!!!

I would find and ask a good saddle fitter for help and send these pictures to them, I know theres a saddle out there made for him somewhere, LOL. I would try some rope saddles on him too to see if you can find a tree that fits him.

Another saddle you might want to try would be a Cactus Charmyne James Barrel saddle, I know these are made for a wide/thick horse.

The pictures aren't the best for my opinion but it looks like your saddle is bridging and I agree with the other poster too narrow.  If it is bridging then there are pads for that problem if you can't get a saddle that won't bridge. An example would be a sway back horse and all saddles are going to bridge "probably" so a pad that is made for bridging problems can be bought.
