Today is
I see Connie Combs is having lots and lots of clinics. Who's been to one? Would you go back? What was it that made you love it or not?
I have been to 2 when she came to SW Florida. I really liked her. She gives you basics to work on then helps those with particular issues that show up in the exercises. Seams to be a Godley woman but tells it like it is.
Yes I would go again.
All ages were at both the clinics I attended and she was good with the kids as well as the adults.
Loved the clinic I went to. The No excuses clinic. She is very good at helping individuals even though my group was larger. It felt very personal when it was your turn. She has a way of being direct and no sunshine blown up your skirt but not intimidating whatsoever. I learned A TON. and I love the drills I still use them from time to time when I want to change things up at home. My horse was super tuned up by the end of the first day with her exercises. I'd definitely go again no doubt about it! Now I want to sign up lol if you can go to one... gooooooo! It's fun but be prepared to work.
Been to a few of her clinics spread over a couple decades and always come away with something new I can use. She will work as hard for you as you are willing to work, and will push you to do more than you think you can. Good with kids and adults, as long as they are willing to listen and learn. Good with all levels of horses - I've taken horses that had never seen a barrel, an old campaigner, a sassy mare that really needed better training before she went, and a lazy fart with vision issues and Connie helped improve all of them in some way or other.
Besides a Rienhardt clinic one of the best I have ever attended. I suffered a horrible wreck on a colt and was looking to get my nerve and mojo back. I signed up for a clinic that was being done by two well known "current" barrel racers/trainers. I drove several states for this clinic, paid a fortunate only to be told before I even got in the saddle I should think about giving up barrel racing with my insecurities. I signed up for Connie's clinic and never looked back. She didn't cut me any slack, provided the encouragement and fundamentals I needed to keep going. I rode a real scotchy, spooky type horse and she gave me tips to get him by a barrel that I still use to this day. I would attend one today without hesitation.
