Who has leased a mare just for breeding purposes?  Can you give me the details on how it worked between you and the Owner of the mare. I have a broodmare for sale and someone has approached me with wanting to lease my mare for breeding.....need the in's and out's of how this works...

I think it depends on what you're comfortable with.  Make sure you have everything in writing!  They insure the mare for an agreed upon value, determine if you keep and feed the mare or do they.  Who is responsible for vet/ daily care (feet, teeth, worming etc.).  I've done a lease where they take my mare, cover all costs, they got the first foal and I got her back in foal to their stallion when their foal was weaned.  This was a friend that I trusted.  Hope this helps.  

We just did a breeding lease. We did a care lease on a gals mare, we covered all costs including farrier and getting her teeth floated. The deal was I would get a foal and return the mare in foal after the foal was weaned. She ended up coming open and we didn't breed her again, so we went ahead and sent her back home.
