When do you start looking at studs for the next year and when do you book to them?

I usually start looking the year before to get all the info i can on the studs im lookin at. most you can book in early january or even earlier and some will give you a discount off the breeding fee for booking early.

I've booked as early as November and also booked and bred an old mare last year in July.  I like to look all the time but am finding out that my nicest foals are being sired by the stud in my barn.
