Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | I stopped at our local Caseys gas station this morning, as I always do. The cashier this morning was a younger gal, late teens, early 20s. An older gentleman was in front of me. He was very soft spoken and somewhat nervous/shy. He asked the gal if they were hiring. She said No. He brought out an 8 by 10 piece of paper, and asked if she would please fill out one line of information and put that they were not accepting applications. Apparently this was to prove to someone, maybe the unemployment office, that he was at least trying.
She proceeded to ridicule him IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. And said how nice it must be to just have to fill out a piece of paper then go collect an unemployment check.
This young lady did not know this many any better then I did. I saw a man who was embarrased that he had to ask these questions, a man who probably wasn't accustomed to not having a job. I wanted so badly to put that gal in her place.
Everybody has a story. Nobody has the right to judge. It broke my heart this morning. I wanted to say something to the man, let him know that what she did wasn't ok, but he was gone before I could pay for my items and find him. |

I really wanted to, but I have learned to bite my tongue or I can get out of control sometimes. She has had attitude with customers before and I'm sure it's not news to the managers, becasue they really seem to care about their reputation, so hopefully talking to them will help |

I think its time for her to be hitting the road if she worked for me and treated my customers this way, hopefully her boss will put her in her place. Sounds like its time to bust her bubble and let her know she puts her pants on the same way as everybody else, one leg at a time. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | These kind of stories hurt my heart. I see alot of older men and women working at the fast food stores and in Walmart. I always wonder, do they work there because they are lonely and want to keep doing something to pass the time, or are they doing it to survive? I mean these are 70-80 yr old people. I want to go up and hug them.
For some young snot to act like that... |

No accountability by parents. Most want to be friends. Spare the rod ....

Location: Henryetta, OK | My mother was still working part time at age 80. I took over her finances then and I found out she was charging her medications at the local drug store and putting her food on a credit card. She worked her entire life and SS wasn't enough for her to survive. I too see lots of elderly people still working at Wal Mart. It is sad that SS is not enough for them to continue to live comfortably. Very sad.
As for the little gal who was so rude, doesn't surprise me. Kids now days have few manners when it comes to their elders. Hope you do talk to her manager. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | and it makes so many of the "kind" people of our generation look bad. Just today I was walking out of a resteraunt with my 2 boys. I was carrying one and the other ran up ahead. An older man and his wife with a cane got the door for him (as I am screaming at him to slow down and wait for me) so when I held the next door open for them, they look at me first surprised and then with gratitude as he helped her over the raised threshold. I feel terrible that they should be surprised that someone would help them through the door. |

I'm like you and wonder the same thing. It is so hard to survive. That girl needs to be put in her place. |
